Crosby’s Fish and Shrimp

In 1988, Captain Horace Crosby sold Crosby’s Fish and Shrimp to his twin daughters, Ellie Crosby Berry and Joanie Crosby Cooksey, trusting them to carry on the family dream he had built on Folly Road back in 1973.
Just one week later, Horace passed away unexpectedly on his 62nd birthday, leaving Ellie and Joanie to step fully into ownership during a heartbreaking time. The very next year, Hurricane Hugo destroyed most of the original building—but the sisters, with the help of family, friends, and their community, rebuilt and kept Crosby’s alive.
Through loss, storms, and change, Ellie and Joanie carried forward their father’s legacy, turning Crosby’s into the local landmark it remains today.
